At the beginning of Inside Out and Back Again, we learned about what life was like for Ha while living in war-torn Saigon during the Vietnam War. The fall of Saigon forced Ha and her family to flee and immigrate to Alabama in the U.S.A. Even though she left her hometown during terrible times, she still has many fond memories of Saigon.
We will be collaborating with another fourth grade class in Baltimore County in order to share our thoughts, feelings, and ideas as we read Inside Out and Back Again. This will generate excitement for our cultural exchange with students in Vietnam and around the world that will take place after we read the book.
